The Prosthetics and Orthotics (P & O) Project:
 
Upgrading and Organizing Prosthetic and Orthotic Services in Lebanon
(1991-1997)

The Program was developed and implemented, with funding from USAID’s Leahy War Victims Fund, in response to overwhelming needs within the sector of Prosthetics and Orthotics. The major achievements of this program included:
 

Live demonstration during a workshop on PO services

 
Provision of material and technical assistance to the public sector that helped upgrade its capabilities with regard to the provision of P & O related services, development of systems of operations, initiation of preventive programs, and quality assurance.
Provision of material and technical assistance to non-profit service delivery facilities that upgraded the capacity and quality of service delivery.
Provision of material and technical assistance in support of continuing education and skills development activities that targeted all professionals working in the field.
Upgrading and developing public awareness in reference to P & O related issues and passing of a Law  by Parliament that sets standards, rules, and regulations governing the practice of P & O in Lebanon.
